According to the FDA, On July 6, 2022, the company was informed by officials in North Carolina that a sample tested positive for salmonella.
Salmonella is a group of gram-negative bacteria of the family Enterobacteriaceae. The bacteria may also be carried by dogs without symptoms.
Salmonella infection, or salmonellosis, is a condition in dogs caused by salmonella bacteria. It usually results in symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea, but it can lead to more serious conditions.
Good hand hygiene is always important in order to avoid salmonella infection, especially when cooking and eating.
Hands should be washed thoroughly after handling the sick dog, and cleaning up any vomit or diarrhoea.
Wash the dog´s dishes separately with a dish brush that is not used for other things.
Avoid giving your dog raw or undercooked meat, as this is a risk factor for salmonellosis.
